Itching for something new, thought about getting a new monitor.

Currently have a w2207, obviously 1680x1050.
Thought about a 27" LG M2762D-PM with the NewEgg LG LCD promo, but now I'm really enticed by the Samsung P2450H for $219 after promo code. (especially with the better dot pitch on the 24")

Trying to figure out if the jump in res would really be a big step up or not.
Running 260 216 SC SLi, so gpu power is not a concern...I know I can run high frames at either res. Computer is about a 50/50 use of freelance design and gaming; sorry though, no desire to go IPS (did think about a U2311H for a bit though).

TIA for any comments :)

I don't see the point in upgrading from 22" 1680x1050 to 23.5" 1920x1080 (the 24" 16:9 monitors are not 24" :)). They have almost the same vertical height and number of pixels. Your only gain is a slight width increase.

Why not a 27''/28''?

I figured the dot pitch on the larger display (under a 30" at least where the res changes) tends to lead to more blurry type. Doing design work, I wouldn't be able to deal with blurry type. ;)

If you want a large monitor get the Samsung P2770H

Did you try a monitor with such a low dot pitch to say that?
I had the hz281, and didn't have problems of blurry type...

^^ No, one of the reviews of the LG on Amazon claimed the type was blurry. I have a feeling the reviewer saw it through D-Sub and not DVI or HDMI though, because looking through NewEgg reviews, there is one from someone using the LG 27" with a Macbook for Photoshop and Illustrator and claimed it was a great monitor.

Don't base a purchase on customer reviews, many people have no idea what a quality product looks like. Read some of the professional reviews I posted, the alternative 24" i recommend are better and cheaper than your initial picks.
