I really find myself wanting alittle more gaming performance, and i want a new video card. I really wanted an nVidia card (for the higher linux performance), but they still seem to be fairly expensive and isnt ati supposed to be focusing on improving their linux performance (i think there was some slideshow here on the [H] afew months ago that had alot of information about more linux support, correct me if im wrong please). All that aside, with my system (barton at 2.2ghz, 1gb ddr 400, 9700 pro, dell 2005fpw) what would allow me to run most of the popular fps (hl2, doom 3, far cry, etc) games at fully maxed (or pretty damn close to) graphics and get playable fps at my lcd's res (1680x1050)? Would an x800 pro be enough, or would i need to spend more than that for the kind of gaming im looking for?
