Also, ATi's uninstall utility works just fine.

Unplugging your internet connection doesnt let XP install any driver. Then you can just cancel the driver install screen, and execute the .exe of the new driver.

No installation, or uninstallation does everything just fine. Theres always bugs and errors becuase of everything software and drivers have to support these days. Driver Cleaner is the next best thing to formatting.

I'd still rather use Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode then the uninstall utility. I don't really trust uninstalling anything like this from within windows.....fricken MS.![]()

While I see nothing wrong with your guide, I simply run ATI's unistall ultility, then without rebooting I use Driver Cleaner from the desktopreboot, cancel new hardware detected wizaed, install new Catalysts, use Refeshforce 1.10, set fixed rez's and refresh rates and I'm done. I've done it this way forever never a single issue. EVAR.
If you're on broadband just disconnect your Cat 5. No biggie. But I still vote for sticky because I get tired of reading posts from idiots who can't install Video Card drivers, although most of these people won't see your sticky either. These are the same people who turn in front of you in traffic and change lanes without signaling or looking at their blind spot.![]()

I wouldn't quite call them idiots, just uninformed. I was once in the same place and I remember all to well what it was like.![]()

For Nvidia drivers I just update the drivers by going into display properties>settings>advanced>adapter>properties>driver>update driver and point it to the folder I extracted my new drivers files to, install, reboot.... done. Never had a single problem with anything doing it this way. My fast writes and SBA stay enabled, I don't have to go though the process of enabling them again
Cool post though.
