I'm relatively new to the ATI video card club. In the past with my Nvidia cards I always uninstalled the old driver and running R.I.P. or similar utility before installing the new driver.
I was wondering for those more familiar with ATI drivers, do you folks have much success just installing the new drivers on top of the old, or do you uninstall the old ones first?

I've always just installed over the originals and never had a problem.. gg ATI..

btw.. 100 POSTS!!

Some people just install over the old ones and never have problems with it. Others say to always uninstall the old and then install the new, but I have never had problems doing it either way..

According to ATI you should run the uninstaller and uninstall the current drivers and then install the new ones.

However, I, as well as others, have had success in just installing them over the old.

according to the options tab on my computer

CATALYST Version: 04.1
2D Version: 6.14.10.6414
Packaging Version: 7.97-031212a-013118C

Under Device Manager the Driver Date says 12/12/2003

Thanks Brent,

I thought I was going crazy there because of the date listed via device manager.
