As of the weekend my computer as been unable to boot up. Occasionally it would if I selected "Load last working config." Since yesterday if I'm lucky I'll see the splash screen before my monitor light starts blinking and everything goes black. I decided to try to use the repair option with my XP disc. Funny thing is when it located my Windows partition, my partition was named: "C:\WINDOWS "Windows Media Center Edition"? Not quite sure where that one came from, but anyway I pressed "R" to repair it. All was looking fine, it asked to reboot (it did), and 2-5 minutes after the reboot when it was setting up Windows my screen went black and the light on my monitor started blinking. I tried to repair it a second time, but got the same result.
Last night after buying a new 120GB HD from Best Buy I'm still getting the same results. So now I'm thinking it's some kind of hardware problem. Here's what I did last night:
Last night after buying a new 120GB HD from Best Buy I'm still getting the same results. So now I'm thinking it's some kind of hardware problem. Here's what I did last night:
- Formatted the new drive to NTFS file system.
- Windows disc copied files to the new HD for installation
- Computer rebooted itself to start installation
- 2-5 minutes into installation computer monitor went black with LED light blinking.
- Tried this a second time with the same result
