Unity engine adds Vulkan support for a big performance boost.

The latest beta of the Unity game engine is now available. Version 5.6 packs some interesting goodies: support for the Vulkan API and Google Daydream VR, in addition to a host of more fine-grained technical features. Vulkan support is the headlining feature, and Unity claims developers can get "a rendering performance improvement out-of-the-box up to 60%" without getting into the nitty-gritty details of the Vulkan API.

for a second I thought it meant the Assassin's Creed Unity engine...

CryEngine 5.3 also just released with Vulkan support. I think both Unity and Vulkan are still working on the multi-threaded resource management though. Likely coming in the next update for each.

Will be nice to see the Vulkan implementation in Unity. Some of the games, Cities Skylines for example, really start to drag after a while and this should help.

Yeah just saw that earlier. Hopefully they get it on the next update with the resource management. That should have been the GDC release.
