Been laying low for about a year, had to rally energy costs down on my labs....

Unless anyone has objections, I guess I'll bring my twin-16 computer labs back online for their afterhours folding.

32 Dually Quad Mac Pro 2.8 ghz? 6 gigs of RAM? Slut-tastic.

BOW DOWN!

Welcome back ............ :D

Thing have moved on a little in the last year with the new GPU2 client.
With the correct hardware it puts out MOAR PpD than the SMP client.

Luck ................ :D

Welcome back :D

Make sure you have permission, to avoid the same fate as Party2go9820 ;)

Welcome back!

If you got it, bring it!

HighYield and I could use some more competition :D

Sad part is it would take probably 2-3 of those computers to equal the output of 1 8800 GS, at a cost of 100 bucks roughly.

WELCOME BACK to the "fold" valhallaprime (pun intended :D)

I really have no ideer what "32 Dually Quad Mac Pro 2.8 ghz, 6 gigs of RAM " can do ppd wise, but they sound meaner than shite. Thanks for comin' back to the [H]orde :)

Oh yea, Xilikon and Rebel44 are not kiddin' with the "permission thing", the higher uppers seem to have been "cracking down" on it. ;)

FOLD ON!

Keep up the good fight Cocodrie, La. (/ouote "The center of the storm struck land at Cocodrie, La., about 70 miles southwest of New Orleans, the National Hurricane Center said in a bulletin at 11 a.m., ET.: /unquote, they were talkin' 'bout "ole' dippy Gustav)

Approximately 5-6000PPD each with the A1 SMP core and few additional processes competing for resources. The A2 core will produce more on paper but it has issues and now Stanford seems to have pulled it back somewhat.

Oh freakin' no :eek::eek: Just a few days ago I purchased a 8800gt and I already have a 8800gs and I know for someone with a big farm a couple of GPU cards ain't shite  Since I'm not into any kind of gaming (I'm not knocking gaming, I'm just not familiar with FR's and such) I've got the 8800gs dedicated to folding and that's what I have intended to do with the 8800gt card. (I have 2x Q6600's and 1x E6600 and between the three (3) I have two (2) empty PCIe slots ;))

When I read posts like the one above I have a tendency to "freak out" a little. I wasn't involved in the GPU1 fiasco, but I read a lot about Stanford being untrustworthy because they canceled the GPU1 project after some folders had already purchased the 19xx card, (or whatever ) Now I read the above and I get the "horrible" feeling that maybe Stanford is having trouble with the GPU2 client. Please tell me it ain't so, tell me they wouldn't cancel the GPU2 (maybe it's the pessimist in me or I'm over reacting) I realize F@H is an ever changing deal , but "good grief" all f*cking ready

jws2346, Don't freak out, everything is all right. I was referring to the A2 SMP core not the GPU client. Your cards will be OK. :)

Sorry I kinda' over reacted APOLLO :(, but when I read something like your post and obviously didn't comprehend it and it's written IMO by a very informed and experienced folder like you I have the awful tendency to "freak" or "over react"

It is good to hear my little investment of 2x GPU's is copacetic :p (yeah, I know, to a big time folder a couple of cards ain't shite ;))

FOLD ON!

Edit: D'oh  A2 = SMP GPU2 = GPU card Thanks Xilikon.

A2 = SMP, not GPU2 so no need to freak. Actually the GPU2 client produce valid science and it's now in full production for close to one month. A2 also produce valid science but some guys have a problem when a unit is completed (it's not so new and the reason it's delayed before, compounded by the fact that some also lose a WU just by shutting down the client).

I understand after all that has gone over this year. In any case, I'm not that informed compared to others here that have frequent communication with Stanford staff.

Well, I only have a couple of cards myself. After going through the GPU1 fiasco earlier this year, I'm very wary about setting up a GPU-centric farm as some have done of late, at least for the time being.

TMK, I haven't yet lost an A2 WU due to a shut down, but what happened to the A2 WUs? All my clients in the past 24hrs that completed their A2 units received A1 units instead. The only clients still working on A2 WUs are the slower ones that haven't completed. I'm sure once they're done they will also receive A1 WUs. Did Stanford suspend the core or has the client configuration changed for receiving them??

Dunno, Yesterday I got 1 A2 unit only but today, it's back up to 4 so it might be a random occurence.
