Well my onboard sound card stopped working so I tried to install a PCI-Slot sound car.. Its a Sound Blaster Live card. There is a plug branching off the card and I don't know where it goes. I disabled the "audio controler" in my bios and tried to install the sound card.. It freezes when installing? Any ideas?

Well my guess is the plug probley goes to your CD drive, however thats only needed if you plug in headphones to the drive, which nobody does. Freezing however I have no idea, but I dont think it is soundcard releated, it is just probley having trouble updating the drivers. Even with my system it takes about 2 minutes to update the drivers. Try removing the old ones needed for the onboard to, that might help

Move it up or down 1 PCI slot. I'll bet dollars to donuts its a IRQ conflict.
Those buggers used to be the royal PITA back in the day where they wanted the same IRQ as the TNT2's (IRQ-5).
If you have disabled the onboard sound, updated all BIOS for the mobo, you shouldnt have a problem.
If all fails..... You really need to do the basics.....
Boot with 1 stick ram, 1 vid card and add a component 1 at a time until it gives no conflict.
Stick to the basics, you wont go wrong.

Previous poster has good info. Remove old drivers completely, then add the creative drivers and see if that helps. Otherwise, do the basics of PC hardware troubleshooting.
