Is there a device I can plug into my usb port that has tvout? cause my laptop didnt come with a tvout port and i need to use it as a dvd player for my tv

is this possible?

If your TV has component inputs go for it. Otherwise you might need to pick up a scan converter.

I doubt that cable will work. The connectors are there, but it requires support on the vga end. Specifically the vga end is supposed to plug into a projector, and the vga port on the projector needs to support component input. I don't think there is any actual conversion going on. You will probably need a scan converter that plugs into the vga out on your laptop and converts it to a tv signal.

nope...ya i read the ebay ad this time...that is for converting a RGB signal to VGA so no go there. Just go to BB or CC or somthing like that and pick up a scan converter. You might even search ebay for one. Just make sure that you can go from VGA to RCA. That conversion is common so it shouldn't be a real problem. For audio just get a 1/8" to L/R RCA and plug that in.

scan converter ay? hmm ill check around, hope their not too expensive, thanks everyone

jwill - it looks like those are all the exact opposite of what he wants. He wants to output tv from his laptop, not input.

That looks like it would work. Can't really comment on the quality though:rolleyes: I personally wouln't get it but its all up to you.
