tv out help

hi all,

basically i just got my room setup so i can plug my gfx cards tv out into my tv for watching films in full screen. the card is a MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mb. i can see my desktop fine etc on the tv, and ive got nview setup to go full screen on video on the second display (the tv) but when i open a video file the tv screen switches to full screen, then flickers, as if the resolution is wrong... the interesting thing is, through messing about it all works fine if i set the output as NTSC in nview, apart from it (obviously) being in black and white. ive had this all working before using this card, cable and TV (granted the card was in a diff machine but still...) im kinda stumped now

currently using the latest dets (60.71?) and windows XP Professional.

I dont fully understand what is going on but I believe there is a setting in windows media player if thats what you are using to get it to play on a secondary display properly. However that setting may actually be in the nvidia drivers I forget off hand but check it out.

Try using a different media player on the secondary tv display also

ive also tried using the divx player... same problem . sorry i realise that the first post is kinda hard to understand, so i will try and explain the problem a bit clearer.

ive connected my gf4 to my tv using a composite lead. the tv displays my desktop fine in whatever mode i set it to (clone, dualview etc.). i live in the UK, so i have to set the output to PAL so that my tv displays properly in colour. using PAL, my desktop is displayed perfectly in colour on the TV, however the problem occurs when i try to watch a video file. this should display in fullscreen on my tv. when the movie starts playing, all my TV does is flicker after switching to full screen, a bit like when a monitor is out of frequency. when i close media player (or whatever video player i use) it switches back to the desktop and shows that fine.

in my messing about i accidently set my computer to output using NTSC - this means the picture displays fine on my tv, except its in black and white. whilst outputting in NTSC my tv will play full screen video with no problems. i dont know how relevant this is, but thought it was worth a mention.

I have had a similar problem.
To sort it I used bsplayer and played a bit with the 'overlay' settings in the video rendering section.
That did it.

I've also noticed some problems to display TV in PAL properly when using the 'card does not detect my TV properly' option (not too sure about the exact text, you get the idea) in nVidia control panel. Check it is not on. You may have to reboot a couple of times before it works.

its an unmatched and MUCH NEEDED piece of software that will fix all your problems.

check it out.

btw if the screen goes blank after a bit,, thats the time limit. you have to pay for it to get the full version. which is worth every penny. it also has screen resizing options and many other things that will definately make it worth it. also sharpness settings that make video's and web surfing MUCH MUCH easier on your eyes.
believe me, go get it.

hey all, i had tried tvtool to no avail... but i got my hands on a new 9800 pro today, got it installed.... loving the extra detail in all my games... one problem though, i get absolutly nothing to my tv now... same problem as my ti4200, except all the time!!!
