I just built a new computer and don't have money to buy a new soundcard at the moment. I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard that is probably about 5 years old from my previous build or I could use the DFI ultra D onboard sound. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on which is the better choice. Thanks, Rob

The Santa Cruz is a card that is showing its age but I put my old one in a spare box I was building and was still impressed with the audio quality. While I never had them side by side I did help rebuild my friend's computer that has a DFI Ultra-D and the audio was nothing great.

The Santa Cruz has pretty good drivers and it will do up to EAX 2.0 in software.

The Ultra-D Onboard asound is mediocre. It will do fine until you enable EAX. Then, it rapes the processor :D
