Does the turbo boost on a 2500K clock up all cores to 3.7 Ghz or just a few of them? I believe it clocks all them up if I'm right.

Actually, by default it only ramps one of the cores to 3.7GHz. Otherwise, by default it ramps all four cores to only 3.4GHz. However, the K-series CPUs have an "unlocked" Turbo multiplier that allows you to set the maximum turbo ratio all the way to 57x (if your CPU can handle it).

x55 multi is for those few lucky one. im sitting at x55 and that's actually really really good.

my friend went through 10 of them and best he got was one that can do x56 multi

The 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors like the Intel Core I5-2500K use the newer Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. The Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 will allow the processor to boost 1, 2 or even all 4 cores up based on usage and power. You can read up on the technology at this site http://www.intel.com/technology/turboboost/ , but to make it easy for you if you are only running 1 thread on the processor it will boost it up to 3.7 GHz. If you are using 2 cores the technology will boost both of them up but not all the way to the 3.7 GHz. Even using all 4 cores on the Intel Core I5-2500K will still see the processor clock up a bit as long as you aren’t experiencing any heating issues.
