the rig is nearing its 4th birthday. help me give it a sweet present.

the mobo is an Abit IC-7, the CPU a 2.4C. Something QUIET a supreme, non-negotiable must !

Best bang for the buck with a little bling, if you please.

*** by the way, what would your ideal CPU/Heatsink/Fan be for this baby boomer ? ***

I'm using a thermalright xp-120 with my 2.8c. She used to be overclocked at 3.6 but now I've bought her down to 3.4 so that there is no increased voltage and to preserve life. Idles at between 29-33c and around 45c at 100% load (dependent on the ambient temp). Just another six months or so I want out of her before a 775 new build. :)

GET OUT !!! No frigging way. You cant tell me you have a 120 on a 478, lol.

I really don't think it will fit on my Abit IC-7. That blasted mobo is too tight, plus
my case may not have enough room. I would have just LOVED for that too have
been option.

ASUS came out with these tower-like coolers that were reviewed by Anandtech.
They were nothing special BUT they did provide respectable performace against
the majors, like your 120 and the Tuniq. They were quiet too.

Basically it can't be too radially wide. I may have an inch at most off the mobo
to the PSU. No frisbees, ladies and gents.
