Well I have been using 1 drive all my life but want to try using two HDD's in my new rig. I have a completely blank Segate Baracuda 120GB hard drive and a 80GB WD Caviar from my old rig that is filled with crap from my old rig. What I want to do is to install windows on the 80GB and other random stuff and everything else on my 120GB.

1. Once I plug each hard drive into seperate SATA ports how do I clear just the 80GB WD and install Windows onto it?

2. How do I go about installing diffrent things onto diffrent drives?

justy plug your 80GB on the first SATA port. Have your disk to install the drivers so WINXP can recognise your SATA drive and when prompt where to install your WINXP copy click on the first drive corresponding your 80GB and press ENTER. Format i and thats it. The install will do the rest.

I'd assume the blank 120 is newer. If that's the case, I'd recommend using the 120 as the system disk since it's probably faster. Plus you can just install the 80GB with all your stuff on it in the new rig & then sort out what to keep.

Best practice and a really good idea:

Only have the intended Windows installation drive connected when you do the install.

#1) It makes sure that the installation drive will be drive C:
#2) It prevents you from accidentally deleting partitions on a data drive
