Installed my new Gigabyte 965P DS3 with a new Conroe E6600

F_panel connections & 24pin / 4 pin power connections are plugged in correctly (execpt for Power LED, does it matter?

Tried without installed RAM

When I push the power button the fans (gfx/cpu) / drives would start to power up for a split second. then everything dies.

Right now i'm at work and cant inspect things further but shouldn't the system be running and give me error beeps (no ram) if things worked with this simple setup? - even tho no IDE drives are connected to the mobo.

Im using an USB power-saving adapter for powering the PC, havent tried with a normal one yet. Could it be this motherboard doesnt support this thing?

The power supply is a Chill-Innovation CP-510A, wich has 25A on the +12v line and has worked flawlessly with my amd athlon 64 3200+ system. Maybe it doesnt support conroe system for some reason?

Could it really be my CPU has shipped dead? retail
Is this a sign of a dead motherboard?

Thank you
