trouble with RAID 1

well...I have four total drives...74GB and 150 Raptor...and 2x300GB SATA II Maxtor drives....the 74 GB is my boot drive...the 150 Raptor is my page file/gaming drive, and I was hoping to mirror the 2 300GB drives...however...when I do make an array it boots fine...but in windows it doesn't recognoize that their are any drivers for my maxtor hdds...and in disk management the raid array doesn't even show up like unallocated or unpartioned space...windows simply doesn't recognize my drives.

WTF? any ideas...I can, however, use both of these drives if they are not in RAID...so I konw they are defective or anything...I've also disabled a few windows services...are there any that I need for raid or large volume drives??
 
After yo uenable the RAID, what do you see in device manager for SCSI and RAID controllers? Anything?

well..it gives me three things without drivers...two of them my hard drives that I want to raid and the other is unknown...I use an Icy Dock Hotswapable backlane to hold these HDDS...it has it's own interface that connects to the Mobo via sata cables...is this multibay dock the cause of the problem?
 
Reinstall the NV chipset drivers, with the IDE driver option selected, while the RAID is enabled.
 
The unknown device is likely be the missing RAID controller / Icy Dock.
It should be on a floppy disk or CD that came with the Icy Dock.

I havent seen all the versions of Icy Dock so you could be using a separate hard drive controller or one on the motherboard.
If so, install the drivers for that.
 
Thanks for the help. What I did was when windows asked for a driver for the unknown device, I pointed it toward the folder with my nvidia RAID driver...this did the trick
