well no scratches but I did find was a tiny (and I mean tiny) thing that looks like a tiny air bubble. It is half the size of a period (resolution 1600 x 1024) and i can only see it when i look for it. Is this dangerous. will the monitor blow up in my face or something. I don't want to return it since I got it cheap and it frigging beautiful. What do you guys think?

Pretty doubtful it will blow up, I mean it’s been that way for quite a while.

If you can’t see it in normal use and it’s not bothering you as far as being a distraction while using the unit I’d let it pass.

It’s highly doubtful the tube itself is still in production so if the deal was good enough live with it. It’s quite possible the original owner never even knew it was there.
 
I'm not sure about this specific one, but my old Gateway Vivitron is now 10 years old and it is still bright enough to keep the brightness set to about half. It still works just fine. Many Sony Trinitron TVs from the 70s and 80s are still in use today, and they have reputations for being tanks. I don't think the 90s and later build quality is quite as high, especially for monitors, but it is still high. I doubt your monitor is on its last legs, it might not even be at the halfway point yet.
 
I gambled and bought a FW900 from Ebay last week, it was manufactured in May of 2002..Luckily it survived the 3,200 mile trip (ground shipping) and also has awesome geometry / convergence / focus.The one thing I would recommend (if you havent already) is to run the Image Restoration option. this improved the color accuracy on mine by getting rid of a slight green tint I was seeing on dark grey / black colors.

Turned out to be a very sweet monitor. :)
