Transferring Data... help please ;D

hey
i just bought a new laptop
an acer ferrari 3400
I am on a network with my desktop and am trying to transfer data from my desktop to notebook and everything has gone fine except when i zipped my music files... which was about 4 gigs or so... but when i try to transfer it to my laptop my laptop says i don't have enough free disk space... this makes no sense as my hdd is partitioned and there's 35 gigs on each partition free... can anyone suggest anything?

How many partitions do you have? 2? 35GB System, 35GB Other? The reason that I'm asking is that Windows will cache the transfered file to the system drive and then copy it over to it's destination drive. If you have less than 4gb free on the system drive, it will report that you don't have enough space.
 
Copy it using 'robocopy'. It's in the Windows Res Kit (XP Reskit is free from Microsoft's site).
 
the harddrive is partitioned once
a c drive with 35 gigs on it and a d drive with 35 gigs on it. i didn't personally do it, i guess acer did.
I was unable to transfer over msn... and i also wasn't able to do it through network neighbourhood. I eventually just did by transferring what i wanted over in bits and pieces rather than a large rar file. I'm still just curious as to why it didn't work. Seems strange to me.
 
Is the partition setup as FAT32? I believe FAT32 has a maximum individual file size of 4gigs.
