The hybrid disc that would feature Blu-ray on one side and HD DVD on the other has been delayed until next year. Warner cited the desire to have a better cache of movies available.

A Total HD movie disc would have the Blu-ray version on one side and the HD DVD version on the other, making it ideal for people who can't make up their minds. Warner's senior VP of marketing, Steve Nickerson, said they wanted to hold off releasing the Total HD format until they had 10 to 20 titles available in it.

I don't know. I can't see this player being significant.
How long can we have 2 formats in direct competition?

And I have always felt when you put 2 technologies into one machine you are compromising one of them or both of them making it not as good at doing either thing as stand alone items.

There seems to be an error with the article, it's the Total HD discs (media) that has been delayed not a Total HD player.

Why not just resurrect Betamax while you're at it? Seriously, this whole dual-format thing isn't good for anyone. And I know my lack of an HD player is stunting my ability to make an argument, but I just don't even see a need for HD movie content. I'm perfectly happy in my old-school DVD age.

this makes no sense here's why let's say totalHD get's released will Universal support it? that'd mean making blu-ray copy available as well... I doubt it's going to happen the format will likely cost more as it'll have both HD formats on it, it'd likely be cheaper to choose 1 format or another.

Dual format players are already availible, so that makes this expensive disk's impact moot.
