I need one more part... I'm torn between the following cards:

1. Chaintech Geforce FX5900XT 128MB DDR, (SA5900X) or a
2. Chaintech Geforce FX5900 128MB DDR, (A-FX98)

Please help me make the "right" decision. They cost around $185. Frame rates and benchmarks really don’t matter to me. The only thing I care about is “quality” of game play. The card will be sitting in a MSI Neo2 PFS 865-Platinum.

Thanks for your help,

Captain Harlock.

Well' I've bought #2 at the following link: http://www.gameve.com/gve/Store/ProductDetails.aspx?sku=VC-CHAIN-015 as you'll see; $183.00 and "free" shipping. Can't beat that!

Thanks for everyone's help,

Captain Harlock.

You can a get a Radeon 9800 NON Pro for that. Or even a 9700Pro would outperform them both and have better quality :)

9800pro is only $210-220 and eats both of those cards completely...
but out of the 2 you listed, the 5900NU is better, since its an 8-pipeline card with a 256bit memory bus... its a lot faster.

Between the two cards, no doubt the 5900nu is better.

I would still get a 9700pro or 9800 pro for the small amount xtra.

9700 pros are not better than 5900. out of the two cards you listed definatly get the 5900 then you can flash it. i wish i could flash mine but i cant find the PNY bios for the 59509

wow we posted a few seconds apart. get the Sapphire if you are looking for the cheaper but if you got 230 bucks that you are willing to spend get the Radeon ( better memory ;) )

5900 non ultra

Should overclock to a 5900 ultra, might overclock to a 5950u, not sure due to being Chaintech.

It will run faster than anything else already mentioned here.

As I understand it, Chaintech makes cards for BFG and they overclock well from what I hear.

Where did you read that information? I was looking at the BFG 5900 about 3 weeks ago.....

Thanks!

Another fine bit of false advertising!

9700pro is about=to 5900 both (STOCK) give or take a benchmark or 2 it go's both ways lol

5900 vs 9800pro (STOCK):p the 9800Pro is the %100 clear winner

Now chuck overclocking into the mix and there is as many variables as a person with 100 personalitys:p

5900nu se xt $180 fast as a 9700Pro @ stock, needs extreme overclocking and flashing to be as good as a 9800Pro=$200+

9800Pro $220 straight out of the crate a very fast and capable card without a bio's flash or overclock needed?now if you add overclocking and (POSSABLE) flash to 9800XT it looks even better
;)

pros: 4 ATI 9800Pro very fast out of the box without overclocking or flashing
Cons: Drivers have been known to have one or two probz on occasion;)

Pros:4 5900 Nvidia as fast as the 9700Pro out of the box Bio's flash works some of the time. Can be overclocked quite well.

Cons:still very flaky shader engine with its mixed shader usage which heavly impacts on AA and AF usage;)

I would never really settle for anything less than a 5900SE or a 9700np on the ATI side. In this comparison, 5900 all the way man, DDR-2 be damned.
