3800's only have 512k cache. Is the other 512 disabled or something? Or was your analogy off a bit. :)
How about we just pretend he said the x2 4600

Look, overclocking is overclocking.

It doesn't matter how many more FPS you get with your overclock. It's the heart and soul of the overclocker. Just to do it is reason enough. My passion for overclocking is just to do it, and push my hardware, and then benchmark it. It's safe to say that a ton of us overclock to smile at our benchmarks, and then clock them back a little over stock for everyday use.

An overclocker really knows, deep down inside, he isn't going to really turn his Sempron into an FX60, but it doesn't matter, it's just the fact that you're pressing the limits of your hardware, "walking the line," and having a blast knowing every aspect of your hardware. Rumors and whatnot about cards overclocking to X speeds have to be understood. This is an overclocking forum, and overclockers all want to be ontop of the coolest hardware that'll overclock the furthest. If one person was able to take a 6800NU and turn it into a GT with watercooling or the hand of god, you now have a fanbase for the card. It's the hopes of the overclocker's heart, really. A NU could turn into a GT, who knows. It all depends on many, many different aspects, but the fact is, people who say "Oh I don't want to void my warranty!" need to really think about what an overclocker is. To hell with the warranty, see if the company can prove you overclocked, it's all about the hardware and pressing it to it's limits, and having a hell of a blast doing it!

^^^ I agree with everything but last sentence. I'll never make anyone else pay for something I helped break. Everything else is right on!

Hey! I'm not saying blatantly ruin your hardware and RMA it! I've personally never returned something I know I've ruined. I don't suggest anyone doing it also. >.> I think I need a disclaimer with my posts. However, If I needed to RMA something that I know I voided the warranty (ie: Using AS5 with the stock heatsink aside from the stock thermals) I'd just shuffle that under the carpet. Lord knows those companies will void an RMA for any reason.
