Toasted Southbridge?

Well I've been having some strange problems with my computer lately. I finally got the thing running again, as it wouldn't post for a while - I'm not sure how I fixed it exactly but it boots now so I don't really care. One thing I'm not sure about is none of my PCI devices or even my onboard devices like the onboard NIC work anymore. They aren't recognized at all, even by the BIOS.

Any ideas on what would cause this? I've got my FSB jacked up to about 240, but the PCI bus was locked down to the default number. I was thinking maybe the higher FSB made my southbridge fail, or maybe it just failed for some unknown reason. I'm really not sure, and I'm almost more curious now if this sort of thing is possible than anything else.

If the Southbridge is toasted then usually your drives won't work either. It is probably in the BIOS or the mobo, perhaps the way you fixed the original problem has caused this.. all ifs, though, I'm not certain.
