Should I remove the IHS on my 2.4c or leave it alone and lap the piss out of it!

I would love to remove it but has it been done sucessfully?
Any pics or guides to doing it?

Thanks, Wicked

Intel seems to epoxy them on to the IHS now with the release of the P4 2.4c. Removing it will probably only kill your chip.

I took the spreader off my 1.6a. It's really not too hard, but if they changed the adhesive it might be a different story. Basically just take a razor and very carefully pry under one of the corners of the chip. Eventually you can get enough room to slip a credit card in there and move on to another area. Temperatures were about 4-5C lower without the spreader.

I did it on a 1.6a also, since everyone else was, 0% extra overclock, and 2Celsius cooler.

and now you really have no chance of RMA:D
I have been lucky my 1.6a has had 1.75 volts for 2 years and never goes past 53c I have toasted the motherboard once but rmaed it and got another one this IT7 is alot more stable same oc but I dont get a once a month shut down like I used to.
