I'm getting ready to go back to college and never really thought about a small case. It hit me the other day while listening to my 4 80mm fans in my lian li pc65-b that I really don't want to listen to this thing for another year. I saw stonyc's TJ08 in the silverstone gallery and it was like 1+1=2. I was just curious about how people like this case and if there is any competition from another mATX case. My main concern is sound. Is this quiet and sturdy? My pc65b vibrates a lot which is the source of a lot of the noise due to the thin aluminum. My only other concern, if it's quiet, is seeing how close stonyc's ninja comes to his HDD. I don't have a ninja but was planning on getting one when I upgrade next. I would really enjoy the small size for moving it back and forth to school, but whew, that is close! :eek:

It's an unbelievable little case, insanely quiet, fantastic cooling, and looks to boot...What more could you ask for? Right now I can whole-heartedly say that the Tj08 is in a league of its own.
 
Woops. :eek: Totally neglected the nead for a mATX mobo. (never built a mATX comp before). Finding a socket A mATX board is a pain in the arse. :(

Dang man, just upgrade to a cheap AM2 system and keep your old crappy case...
 
that case is ok..BUT i think this case is alot cooler looking..check it

About 6 post down ChinDave has a wicked small box..Really nice I think

The Silverstone Case has a great idea, or skeleton. But IMO poorly executed.

The right design is there, but no aluminium (leave steel to Antec :) ), poor build quality (driving plates out of sync, bits chopped off here and there) means its not what I expected.

The Lian Li V300 is probably a nice case for you to check out, VERY different, and its at a nice price in the UK.

The V600 as linked too is another great case. Allows for a full ATX motherboard but its a bit longer than usual and also no space for a nice cooler.

My reccomendation- Lian Li V300 or the Antec NSK4400.
 
I really like the looks of the PC-V300 also.


You know you could just change out the fans in Lian Li for something a little quieter. You could also get vibration dampers for installing the quieter fans.

I don't want to upgrade my computer right now, and i don't want my crappy case anymore either. I'll probably just find a better mid tower since I don't think I want to play the "lets find a compatible mATX board" everytime I want to upgrade.
 
If you don't mind something that looks a little ricier, I have heard the Antec Lanboy is a good case.
 
I have a Lanboy and it's good for cooling and a full atx setup.
Only downsides are silver only and flimsy aluminum.
I also have a TJ08 and I love this thing. The fans are a bit noisy but nothing a fan controller can't handle. And if you want to go cheap I use these:

You can also get these in person at Central computers in the bay area.

I also looked into the Lian Li's and would consider one of there dual 120mm fan cases. I am just not a perforated holes case, fanatic.


And there were no quality issues for me on my Silverstone TJ08.
I have 2! one for my GF and one for me. Easy to build and it has a removable motherboard tray!

Really? You are finding it hard?

I just cant find a good ATX Socket A MoBo. I have one but no onboard-NIC, only two USB, and quite low quality.

I'm rather happy with my ASRock mATX MoBo I use right now, the only knock I have against it is that it only has 2 PCI slots, and both are blocked from usage by my video card's massive fan/heatsink.
