I posted earlier this summer that I planned to make a fancy arse titanium mouse pad. The motivation? I dont know, I guess I am sort of tired of using random sheets of paper for a mouse pad. Im a cheeep ass so paper has suited me well over the last few years but its time to upgrade.

Check out this ghetto mouse pad:

Believe it or not I do pretty well at BF2 usually top 1-5. Who knows, maybe I start sucking it up with a fancy pad. Any way I found a nice piece of Ti sheet on ebay. I dont have access to a nice sheer, plus this stuff is a bitch to cut, so it was important to find a sheet that was close to the proper size. Here is the [H]ard plate its, .04 thick and around 7.5x11:

Very nice and very flat. Anyway I started with a wide metal file and knocked off the sharp corner. Just a bout 20 passes on each edge added a nice bevel. I havent quite figured out if I was going to add some shape to it. One thing I knew I planned to do it add some color through heat. I good thick sheet of titanium might warp while hot, but it should regain its flatness as it cools. I figured I should make sure it wouldnt stay warped when I added heat.

Anyway on to the testing, as you can see I just threw it on the burner and watched the magic:

Pretty cool, a pretty durable finish, but I will polish this off when I add a little texture. This sheet is pretty thin but once it cooled it was still pretty flat despite the uneven heat I tortured it with...

Another shot, I may add a light coating of Urathane to protect the ultimate finish. Hand greeeze will probibly dull and smudge the purty colors.

Anyway thats the beginning. I am going to polish off this color and figure out what will look cool....
