Well, the time has come shut down the farm and box it up.

Cause ..... it is Moving time .... (I know you all hate when I do that)

I have began the process fox boxing up my farm to prep for moving day in about 2 weeks.

I tried to take some photos of my new Office & Server Room but there is not enough light at the moment (electricity gets turned on in days so that will help)

Server Room Specs

15 Feet x 10 Feet
2 x 20 Amp Electric Circuits
1 x 15 Amp Electric Circuit
Dedicated HVAC System for room (Full Outside Unit)

The Office has 2 x 15 Amp Circuits and is about 15 feet x 12 Feet.
It is wired for surrount sound (for PC Speakers) and has empty conduits for mounting PC LCDs just above my desk (to get rid of those wires)

I personally wired the house with Cat6 so every room in the house as at least 2 ports.

I plan on moving my 2 x 42U racks in this week and will get some photos up at that time.

I am really looking forward to having those nice big rooms to play in.
Will have tons of room to host my F@H farm and it will stay nice and cool.

nice.. hopefully your a little more organized then i was when i packaged all my systems for moving day.. dang that was a PITA trying to find all the boxes with the computers and the boxes with all the cables..

Great luck with the move! I hope the farm transitions well!

quick, everyone switch to one name so we can pass him LOL

Anyways, make sure you post plenty of pics, I building a server corner, would love to see how you set up a whole room (have to take notes for when I build mine in a few years (come on uncle Sam, show me that money you wved infront of my face a few years back!)

I wish you the best on your move.

I know the wife and I love having a place that is ours, and I think you will feel the same.

Ohh and pics are mandatory.

Moving is always fun :D.

(and by fun I mean expect it to be at least a year or two until everything is actually unpacked and organized ;))

Heck, I have boxes that I haven't opened from 3 moves and seven years ago..........I average around 3 boxes a move that I don't get to. or don't want to get to. Does anyone want a Nintendo 64 with cartridges and a bunch of accessories, that would clear half a box right there. How about a crappy abused gateway mid tower? I might even be able to throw a Athlon 64 3200+ in with it. How about a Thrustmaster FLCS+WCS I have 2 of those to move. Come to think of it I should probably put these up for give away in the FSFT forum.

one of these days........

never do today what you can put of to two years from now

You should pack everything up except the the folding boxen! Two weeks is a lot of lost contribution. Do that on the last couple days.

you should donate that stuff to the horde, or sell it and put the money towards a prize pot that some of us are trying to put together (do to Ken, don't wanna steal your thunder, was a great idea)

Hey thats awesome

Cant wait to see pics of the new casa :D

Good luck with the move. I know there is a move at some point in my future as my wife is eyeing a larger house. I won't mind as I will hopefully be able to get a dedicated server room so my servers aren't in the same room as my home office which during the TX summers is NOT a good idea :D

We as well are looking at a custom build. I will definitely be following your lead with regards to wiring and office layout.

I know a guy that is looking for a N64 actually so he can play Ocarina of Time. What do you want for it and all the accessories?

Good luck with your move Evil. We're actually closing on our new house tomorrow morning and will be doing the same thing this weekend, so I expect there might be a slight drop in my PPD as well. Hopefully the DSL transition will be quick and problem free, and I should even be able to get a faster line since I'll be closer to the CO up here.

Ax

Well, I am all moved in ,, but no internet at the house yet.
Should Have it by next week.

Been working hard to setup my office and the server racks.
I am ready to go and have it all wired / setup.

About your internet issues, I saw your post in Genmay. Did you get anywhere with the Telcos?

Finally got something worked out with charter communications.

8x2 Business Internet for 3 years @ $200 per month + $1000.00 down
That covers the cost of running the lines 0.5 miles to my house
Total Costs to run the lines to my house is just over $5000.00 so it works out to paying the costs over 3 years ...
($200 x 36 months = $7200 ---> Normal Internet Costs per Month $50 x 36 = $1800 ---> $7200 -$1800= $5400 total)
yeah, it hella sucks but it is my only option at this point

(It also allows my uncle and grandparents to get cable for the first time which they want)

After the 3 years, I can go back to the consumer side of internet with the much cheaper rate.

oh man EA, that reminds me of when I used to pay $600/mo. to run a fractional T1 to my house back in the days before internet over cable. I feel old now. :(

LOL at TWC, I hate them!! But, speed wise, it's the cheapest, and their digital tv package is great!(coming from 3 channels)

It was either them or dialup :(

I am moving in 10 days. My old house(rented) could get ATT DSL for $29/month at like 512 upload, 1.5 Mbit download. The new place(buying) is under a local co-op which offers "broadband" DSL at 128k up/down and a local phone line required for $44/month. I have to sign up for a 3-year contract in order to avoid setup charges. I'm hoping I can get by on 128 speed without the internet breaking for 20 minutes every time I upload a WU.

Just shoot yourself now.

The only thing I can think if is to put the farm on that connection, and get a second one for your interwebs.
