Right now I'm running a Radeon 9500 softmodded to 9700. Is this still enough to play future games or should I upgrade to something better? Should I just wait until I upgrade to a PCI-E motherboard before I upgrade my videocard?

Only you can decide that. Is it playing the games you want, at the resolutions you want? If not, then it might be time for an upgrade. ;)
 
I would wait until you get a PCI-e Mobo.
It is the Future, and has replaces AGP...

I dont think we will see AGP for too much longer...
 
I think it will be around for quite a while.

If you card runs your games fine then do not upgrade...if you cant run them..upgrade ;)
 
Still upgrading tp PCI-E would be smart, and future proof.

I would wait a little while (FOr the R520 and so ATI Can make any comments/announcements on AMR) If you simply can't wait, get an X800XL

I'd have to agree with hatebot, the PCI-E bus is more future safe.
 
Besides any upgradability from pci-e, the prices for some of nvidia's mid-range pci-e are cheaper than the agp version(6600gt for example) and most of the pci-e version run slightly faster. So I think nvidia and ati will provide some sort of incentive to switch to pci-e, and since prices for agp seem to be comparable, i don't see a reason not to switch if you're replacing several parts in your comp.
 
LOL @ that juvenile comment. Anyway thanks for your comments. I decided to just keep the same card and just overclock it a little bit. I'll upgrade my videocard when I finally get a PCI-E motherboard.
 
you need an x800 video card. AGP or pci-e. Doesn't really matter. These cards are going to play all the new games coming out this year. And with the unreal 3.0 engine they're working on, you will need the extra video power.
 
I have an AMD setup right now and I'm waiting for the next generation of PCI-E motherboards to come out. I'll keep that X800 in mind though if I decide to upgrade my current AGP video card.
