Alright, Im currently using a MX 500, but Im looking to move that to my second comp in which I just sold my MX 700. Now about a month ago, I had it narrowed down to buyin another MX 500 or getting a new Razer Boomer Control, but now things have changed.
I think Id rather get a MX 510 or pre-order a Razer Viper. The only thing I have against the Viper would be the lack of 5+ buttons in which Ive grown so used to ever since I got my BoomSlang 2100 years ago.
Just lookin for any help or suggestions.
Thanks!

i would say go for the mx510, i'm actually in the same position you are, thinking of giving the mx500 to my gf (who has a really weird generic white optical mouse). hope you get one soon and write up a quick review :). otherwise i'm still not sure about them razers =\

Just curious, why did you get rid of the MX700 ;o I happen to like mine quite a bit.

just looked at the 510 on logitech website, never seen it before..... looks nice.

Because no matter how close the reciever was to the mouse, it kept spazzing out in games, so I moved it to my second comp and bought a MX 500. The freedom of wires is cool and all, but if Ima have issues with it, its gonna go bye bye :)

it's also kinda funny how many times a cord has saved the free-falling of my MX500 to hardwood floor =D.

btw, are there any good deals on the MX510 yet? where'd you guys get them from?

the 510 was supposedly designed for gamers
i think they increased the dpi sensor from 4.2 to 5.8, so u get better precision. thats pretty much the only difference. other than the fact that they use specialized drivers.

Ive been browsin around the web, theres no deals on the 510 yet, but I have noticed that Best Buy seems to be the only place that has them, and they arent even on the website yet... The Best Buy closest to me was sold out or just didnt have any on the shelves.. might go back tomorrow tho

Its not a photoshop, but its actually red.. so imagie that mouse in red, and you got th 510

Im not in tooooo much of a hurry to get the mouse tho.. but if I get some free time Ill run out to Independence.. if I get a lot of free time and Independence doesnt have it, I might run out to LS.. but thats a long drive for a mouse

its a cool mouse though! ;)

I was trying to decide for about a week but then I decided on the MX510 I haven't used it yet but I'll be getting it on Thursday email me if you want to know what I think of it.

MX510 for sure....

Personally I hate wires, but I will get one once I buy a laptop. So it seems like you don't mind the wires... so get the MX510.

EDIT:the MX510 is exclusive to BB until April I think.

weird, i never had a problem with an MX700 or MX900, no matter what the distance.

I had a friend that had the exact same problem until recently, maybe it was somethin with the drivers. I dunno, but thats ok, Im not gonna worry about it

if you're really serious about gaming, get an mx300.
Im not extremely serious at all, but the whole 5+ buttons has become a bigger and bigger deal to me, so as soon as I can find a MX 510, Ill be purchasing one of those. If Im not extremely happy with it, I will pre-order a Viper.

the MX 510 has more dip and all 5 buttons can be used in every game now.

the viper mouse is a joke just like every other razor mouse.

get the 510, you can only get them at bestbuy but its worth it.

So you've used the Viper? How is it? How does it feel? Does it perform on various surfaces? Less finicky than MX mice?

Even if Viper does turn out to perform poorly, we should give it the benefit of the doubt. At least it's got a $50 pricetag instead of the crazy $100 for the first of the Boomslangs. It could be a contender. I was really hoping for the Mamba myself...

At the moment, I wouldn't consider any other mouse than the MX500/510 (if you're lucky enough to live near a Worst Buy). Maybe the Intellimouse 4.0, but I prefer the MX500/510/700/900 design.

I re-ordered the Viper when I ordered my current Boomer Speed. I too am addicted to the feel of a Razer. I doubt the Viper would perform worse than the regular Boomslangs and since it's optical, it'll mean it'll be more consistant. As for my Boomer Speed, it has a problem where if i do even moderately quick movements, there seems to be a drag time where my mouse dones't move and something spins up like a turbo and my mouse does that dance around the screen. but moving it slower, i've improved my gaming frags by at least 110%. I would go with the Viper. The buttons on the mx serries are flimsy and get pressed down if you rest your hand on them. Since you know how nice the clicking is on Razers, go with it. Almost march now...Viper should me comming soon.

get the mx510.

I have been using mine for a few days now. I upgraded from a Logitech Dual Optical. I can tell the big difference smoothness and percision in Unreal Tournement 2k4. Now I just have to wait for my fUnc pad to arrive from newegg.

These jokes have dominated the majority of professional gaming events since their introduction four years ago.
