Thoughts on this Antec case

Been looking to get a small lan or desktop case and something like this seems good. http://www.buy.com/retail/searchresults.asp?search_store=1&querytype=comp&qu=NSK2480

Antec New Solution NSK2480 Black/Silver 0.8mm cold-rolled steel MicroATX Desktop Computer Case 380W Power Supply.

It comes with a good power supply, has 2 ext and 2 int bays, 4 expansion slots. Don't know how quiet the ps is or how study it is, but antec generally means quality.

Haven't speced out a motherboard-ram-cpu, etc yet. Any thoughts on this case? Thanks.
 
I haven't used this case, but I've seen it in person. The insides are good quality, but IMHO the front bezel looks flimsy and cheap. You'll probably want to keep in mind what it will look like once you put optical drives in--beige is definitely out.

its only a 380watt antec psu but depends on wat ur running i supose might be enough for wat he wants to run

It's actually pretty difficult to max out a truthfully-rated 380W PSU. Even with 70W for a good CPU and 150W for a power-hungry video card will still leave you with lots and lots of headroom.
 
Buy doesn't have it listed correctly though, it's not an ATX case like they list, it's a mATX case, so you'll have to use a mATX board.

Well, since the voltages on a PSU are fixed, and since Watts = Volts X Amps, that means that if you know Watts, you also know Amps.

Seriously, though, you're right--if the PSU is designed for 8-year-old Pentium 3's that drew all their power off the 3.3V and 5V lines, it would be a problem. But nobody manufactures power supplies like that any more.
 
ordered the NSK2480 11-days ago from buy.com, still hasn't shipped. still waiting for them to respond to my where is it already emails. might cancel and go with another supplier. they dont have a phone number to contact, only email.
 
well that is gay havnt u already payed for it so how can u cancel it will u get ur money bak?
 
This is a great case, I just upgraded mine to the new V2 series.

That sucks. I've heard some crappy things about buy.com but never about having no one to call, that's totally lame.

That PSU should do you fine unless you do some serious upgrading. :)
 
buy.com always seems to be a bit slow to ship orders, but it'll get there eventually. Don't worry.
 
They're especially slow if you select Free Shipping. It takes me just over a week to get stuff from them. 11 days is too long though, you should check on that some more.
 
It looks a lot like a Fusion without the LCD and Dial. Even the insides are identical to the fusion, as shown in the review posted above.

So here are my comments on the fusion:

It's a tight fight for your components, but a nice fight. Make sure you can get all your expansion cards to fit, and if any cables need to be routed near the cards, make sure they have room.

The case has plenty of fans, or spots where you can mount a fan, to provide great airflow. However, if you're sloppy with your cable routing, you could possibly create a blockage and trap heat inside the case. However, there are plenty of little places to mount clips to manage the wires, as well as spots to tuck them under.

The 5.25 drive bay is pretty slick. It provides plenty of room to get your drives in, and it has a gap underneath to tuck wires under if your cables are a bit too long.

The HD caddy is pretty slick. It mounts the drives sideways and comes with rubber grommets to help reduce noise caused by vibration. You might want to look and see what works best for you in regards to SATA connectors, though -- you might need to get angled or straight connectors based on your motherboard layout and the number of drives in the system.

All said and done, I would build another system with this case. I had it running MythTV for a while. I never had a single problem that resulted from the case, and company always commented on how nice it looked in my entertainment center. Sure, the LCD and Dial adds a little pizazz to the case, but the black against the steel look is very sharp.

One thing I don't like about the case is how easy it is to scratch the black finish. But then again, thats not really a problem with just this case...
