Thoughts on ThermalTake?

Well, to be honest, i couldn't really say. I bought a Xaser V, and I can tell you I'm immensely happy with it but for one minor problem.

The locking features are unnecessary, but cool. The fan placement is pretty good. The size (front-to-back length) of the X V's is very good, giving you extra room to work with the drives and cables before running into the motherboard.

The one minor problem is that mine has a "tooless expansion card" thing, which would be cool, except that the latches don't work very well at all when the card's silicon is any longer than the size of the metal backplate for the expansion card's ports. The clip runs into it when you try to close it. Had to drop my Santa Cruz sound card and use onboard because it was too fat like that. Not sure how I managed to fit the graphics card in, and I'm not sure if I'll ever get it out :sigh:

But like I said, my Xaser V is pretty spiffy besides that, and I prefer that they do the modding instead of myself, since I'd screw it all up :)

A lot of people don't like the looks, but I never hear people complaining about the functionality. If you like the look and are willing to deal with the hugeness of the case / the cost, it won't let you down.

I have an XaserII and have owned the XaserIII. I dont like em. Too big, too flashy, and too expensive. My XaserIII was not built good. The finish scratched easy, the aluminum was a different shade of silver than the front plastic part, the fan control switches didnt work, the PCI retention didnt work (can be removed) and the case flexed when picked up. You could grab it by the top and bottom and twist it 1/2 inch. I ended up selling it to a freind for $60. If you really want a TT case, the XaserII is built a lot better. (nowhere as good as a Lian Li though)

Yes, Lian Li and Cooler Master are the ultimate cases. TT has commercialism written all over it, and is kinda ghey like that...

I have the same thing on my Thermaltake lanfire (Xaser3) but if you look underneeth that snap in the holes are tapped to use normal screws
