Howdy. I am looking at THIS HDTV,a nd I really want it, please, no suggestions...but I was wondering.... it requires a set top box to decode HD signals, does it mean it wont display HD if I hook up a Xbox 360, or other HD source? Or is a box needed just for over the air signals? Thanks.

That means that it doesn't have a built HDTV over the air tuner. I saw the specs on that TV and it appears to have component inputs which is what is going to be necessary for the XBOX 360 if you want to play in an HDTV. So no, you are not going to need a set top box to play with your XBOX 360 in HDTV mode.

I know you have your answer, but I thought you deserved 2 since you had trouble getting the first one.

That panel has every conceivable input (except hdmi) and the dvi input is hdcp compliant. So you should be set with whatever you want to connect.

Thanks a lot! I'll probably end up connecting the xbox 360 through the DVI, and the DVD player through the component...hmm, although I won't really need the DVD player separately as the 360 is a progressive scan player anyway...thanks again!

There's no harm in getting a seperate DVD player is there? How easy will it be to hack the 360 to play different region DVDs, disable macrovision, etc?

Eh, well I'm planning on keeping the DVD player itself in the livingroom on the other TV. I like having all the good stuff in the el master bedroom-o...which is where I spend most of the time anyways! To minimize the clutter, I will have only the Xbox 360 and the HDTV, and of course the surround sound system hooked up. Well, I still have the computer in here, but it's not exactly cluttered. THe reason I'm going flat panel is because...well...it looks cool, and also because it'll save a lot of space...before, I had to have a bulky fat-end-assed CRT...ahh, but now....I will have a TV hanging on my wall....next week, hurry and get your ass over here next week!
