I recently deleted many files and folders that i do not nead.

Including Everquest 2 which is over 3 Gigs, Aquamark , 3dmark 2001 se, 3dmark 2003 and all the folders left or anything that has all their names in it with a filesearch then i defragged.

Now whan i run my virus scan it scans 52000 files but before the massive cleanup it scanned only 48000 files.

It could be temp files from IE, it could be that you deleted them only to the trash bin and not deleted completely. You listed programs....you don't delete them...you uninstall them...which is where I'd be concerned.
