I just installed my new mobo and cpu (p4 3.0E 1mb cache 800fsb) and installed Far Cry and only played through a little bit but when I got outside my frames immediately dropped from like 100s to 30s and 40s. Now taking into consideration my settings were maxed but the res was 1024x768 no AA/AF though. So what's the deal? Shouldn't my setup be able to handle that easily? Btw Far Cry is patched to 1.3 and I formatted and reinstalled windows after installing the hardware.

More specs please. Video card?

Also did you do a clean install (reformat your HDD when upgrading)

yes, I did, check the sig, rest of specs there, gig of ram and 6800GT 66.81 drivers

have you installed all your motherboard drivers etc ? what version of direct x are you using also ? and what version of windows ? alot more information would be helpful

10 bucks says its either the version of DX or his motherboard chipset/agp drivers are not installed.

your 3dmarks are way off too, they should be in the 11k range not 9k range. perhaps mobo chipset drivers not installed?

don't go by that score, that was with my old cpu and mobo. I haven't run 03 yet, I ran 05 and got like 4500. I have dx9.0c of course and the drivers that came with the mobo are installed, I haven't checked for updated ones yet. windows xp home sp1, anything else?

Sounds like you need to patch Far Cry. You know there are patches yes ?

Could it be crappy ram? I have a gig, but it's like hynix or something. I'm waiting till I have more money to get like the crucial ballistix stuff.

What is the amperage on your 12v rails on that PSU? Remember high watt doesnt make it better. Its what is pumped out that little yellow power line coming from your psu that counts. :)

your video card might be underpowered..If your PSUs 12v rail is putting off like 20amps, I'd suggest getting a new psu that gives off 34+ amps.

6800 cards are power hungry. With a few hds, a couple cd/dvd burners, a few 80mm fans, and the 6800 thats pushing it..

Just reinstall latest drivers for your mobo, and video card. Sounds like something may have gone wrong or a setting is wrong.

also make sure vsync is disabled...

are you getting hdr effects? start the first level and look up the hole and post a screenshot

I'll check for updates, be like the same thing right? if not I'll just reinstall them. I highly doubt my forton psu can't handle it.

lies. I've seen benchmark after benchmark and post after post here in these forums and 30s and 40s just doesn't exist with a similar setup to mine. and no hdr for sure. And how do I check the amps on my psu?

I forgot to mention I have the agp apeture (sp?) in the bios at 256mb.
