I am planning to get one of these, but I don't know if my northbridge heatsink on my Abit IP35 Pro will clear it.

Can anyone tell me from the bottom of the heatsink (or from the bottom of the mobo if its in use) to the beginning of the heatsink layers/fins I'd like to know to see if I won't be wasting more money on finding that perfect heatsink.

Thanks!

mine fits fine

going to rotate it 90* and have it blow up and give that a try.. should fit fine like that from what I see, it clears everything

Please post pics of that when you do it. I'm thinking of stuffing one of those in my Micro Fly mATX case and the orientation you're switching to is the only way I'll be able to make it fit due to the height of the heat sink.

I have a couple of these, they are nice heatsinks. You can also pick up the "S" clip that lets you rotate the unit on the socket as you need.

MassiveOverkill, you might want to take some measurements, I'm not sure about your case but if it's tight....

It's pretty dang tall, close to standing 6" off the top of the CPU if I remember correctly.

You should be fine.

I've got an Ultima 90 on my Abit IP35 Pro in an Antec Sonata 2 case. It fits just fine and won't touch the northbridge heatsink or overhang the edge of the mobo (which is an important consideration if the power supply is right next to the edge of the motherboard). I have mine configured with front-to-back airflow and with a 120mm fan.

I've got 33 mm from the edge of my power supply to the center of the CPU socket, so as long as when the HS is rotated 90 degrees, it's not wider than 66 mm total, I think I may be OK, although I may have to offset the fat a little.

I think it may just work:

My current heat sink:

Heatsink Dimensions: 96.5 x 95 x110mm
