Thermalright NB-1C installed: thoughts

Well, I just put this little monster in. Overall, I'm very pleased with it thus far. It came with every part you could possibly need to mount it to your board's Northbridge, wether it be AMD or Pentium. Installation was a breeze with one exception, (no fault of Thermaltake's design) the mounting screws from my DD Maze4 GPU cooler were slightly in the way and needed to be shortened about 1". The Delta fan was a bit loud for a 40mm and emitted a slight high-pitch whine. But with my case back on, I couldn't hear it. I don't have any performance aspects to report as of yet, but when I get home tonight, I will do some testing to see if it improved anything. ;)

Overall, the same high level of quality I've come to expect from Thermalright. :)
 
205 FSB and Prime starts failing after 1-3 hours
System still runs everything else stable
Memtest passed 6 hours at 210 FSB

2500+ Barton (superlocked) @ 2.3 gigs
NF7-S
512mb GEIL Ultra Platinum PC3500 CL2 2-3-3-6
Radeon 9800 Pro

Cooling:
Dtec WW CPU block
DD Maze-4 GPU
Maxijet 1200 Pump
Waterchilled (water temp 18*C constant)
 
its a shame you got a crummy mobo. i use a DFI with a NB-1(the copper wasn't released then), i get 500mhz with Geil ultra series ddr3200 ram.

the delta fan isn't loud,exactly, but its high pitched whine is terrible,i had to put it on a fan speed controller and lower it all the way.
 
Which DFI board? I had considered the Infinity and Lanparty but settled on this board because I got a really good deal on it and at the time and the DFI boards didn't have the HSF mounting holes. I'm still wondering if it's the CPU or board holding me back. At least it OCs better than my MSI KT3 Ultra did. I may try another 2500 Barton and see if it makes any difference.

I hate high pitched whines more than anything ... I'm thinking twice about getting this thing.

is the north bridge cooler actually neccisary... i arctic silvered dfi's stock one and retrofitted a quiet 40 mm fan
