I had to do quiet a bit of work on my mounting bracket to make me feel assured. i noticed that the bracket touched the solder points on the motherboard when spread out how it was suppost to be. So..... i grabbed my dremel and cut off about 1/8th'ish off the end's until it fit clear in the squares, I did lap my heatsink to 800grit, basically made it flat /copper as ive found it is better to not be 100% smooth and let the paste do its job. From there i applied the paste, I did not use those 2 skinny lines like everyone else. i took the artic silver put it on the heatsink then with a business card used the edge to scrape the paste across the surface, until filled clean (by this i mean you scrap and can see the hint of the paste but no globs of paste applying) then i did a fast 3 lines across and put the heatsink down, then i mounted the screws at half tight, and just spun heatsink around a bit. Then tightened it down,
speedfan 4.33 reports as follows:
core 0/1 more often than not report @ 11C, and core 2/3 report 9C
- maybe the weight of the heatsink causes 0/1 to be hotter i don't know or maybe that most process is being handled on those cores.
Note: someone was saying you need to add 15 degree's to the temp. dunno if they ment C or F. but either way, they run nice and cool...
btw my ambient is about 66 in my room. and i run 3 120mm fans blowing on the mobo, and a 120mm on the heatsink blowing toward the back of the case and another 120 that pulls air out. and 2 more 120's one at top and one in front bottom.
