Thermal Sensor on 6600GT?

I have been told there is a thermal sensor on the 6600GT Video Card.

1) Is this true?

2) How do I read it, without (hopefully) having to re-flash the card?

The card is the MSI NX6600GT VDT128 8x AGP.

I just installed the 71.84 ForceWare drivers and read it right off of the nVidia control panel.

I have read that all 6600's have temperature monitoring on chip (thermal diode) just that some BIOS's don't permit it?

Just looking to see if anyone knows more about this.

It would be nice... but either way, it is an awesome card, and it does have VIVO.

PS: I am not willing to flash with another BIOS because I will lose the VIVO function.

Okay... I found a utility that will modify the 6600GT BIOS to read temperatures *without* hex editing!

It is called NiBiTor V2.0a here.

I have my BFG 6600GT @ 575/1150 and I kinda wanna know what temp is at. In the nVidia display it shows that it's 51C, but that obviously isn't right because the temp never changes.

Could somebody explain to me how to use NiBiTor to enable the temp read?

You use the Nvidia BIOS tool to save a copy of your bios onto a floppy. Then you edit that BIOS with BiBiTor to endable temp monitoring. THEN, you re-flash your card with the new BIOS.

I am going to try it on the weekend... decided I didn't want to screw with it until I had some real time.
