Hey, I'm wondering if it is okay to use a bit of MX-2 on my memory ramsinks on my video card. They just came with some sort of adhesive that does not seem to stick very well at all.
And do you think the thermal paste will help keep them on? or would I absolutely need thermal adhesive.
Thanks

You should remove the thermal adhesive first and then stick them with the paste otherwise it will act as a lesser heat conducting thermal layer.
I stuck mine with Arctic Ceramique and they stick just fine but there is a danger of knocking one off.
After I nudged a few ramsinks I bought some Akasa Thermal Adhesive Tape so they are properly stuck now.

Others here have been doing this for a long time without killing their cards so if you are careful, it should be ok.
However, I'm not sure we have heard much from those that have killed their cards :D

You're better off with after market thermal conductive adhesive tapes, you can find it here

To answer your question; thermal paste don't keep it in place.

Tip: you can use heat gun or air blow dryer to heat up the ramsink adhesive tape first then use crazy (supper) glue, just a tiny a little drop at each corner of the mem. Let it sits for a couple minutes then reinstall your grfx card.
Do not put too much glue unless you want it permematley stay on.

I used MX-2 to stick on my Accelero S1 sinks to my 8800GT. They stuck and didn't fall off but be very careful not to accidentally move them when mounting the cooler. Also, it doesn't seem to be a problem with my Lian since the mobo is upside down =P
