Thermal Compound question

Ive never in my life had a chip run this close to max temp. at stock the 965 BE ran at 60C under load, the max temp is 62C. I reset the cooler twice and made sure not to use too much thermal paste but not too little either. Maybe Ill try undervolting.
what thermal compund are you using?
which apply method did you use? Dot is best imo
spreading with a razer or other tool is bad.

also if you just cant seem to drop the temps you could always try lapping it.

Is there an expiration date on these compounds? Say I have a tube laying around from 5 years ago, should I throw it away?
most of the time they dont last long after opening but it can vary based on the thermal compound type.
Little update, I decided to go ahead and get a new case because I realized my air flow might be a little ehhh.... lol In any event, I purchased the Antec Three Hundred Mini Tower from best buy after trading in just about all my wii games that I have never played lol....
I figured I would do the thermal paste one more time for third times a charm, I was removing the huge gaia heatsink and guess what? It came off, just with the damn processor. I must of not properly secured it before attaching the heatsink (WHICH I SWEAR I DID because this ain't my first rodeo).
Well one properly seated processor, 3 additonal fans and the sweet ass difference between having the PSU on the bottom is letting me have an idle temp of 33C.
I figured I would do the thermal paste one more time for third times a charm, I was removing the huge gaia heatsink and guess what? It came off, just with the damn processor. I must of not properly secured it before attaching the heatsink (WHICH I SWEAR I DID because this ain't my first rodeo).
Well one properly seated processor, 3 additonal fans and the sweet ass difference between having the PSU on the bottom is letting me have an idle temp of 33C.
its not unheard of for AS5 to pull the cpu out when you remove the heatsink, you need to stress and heatup the system to loosen up the thermal compound an then shut down and remove heatsink by twisting it gently off, pulling straight out can take the cpu with it.
