Screen shoots look pretty good. Seems some of the mechanics to how the game is played will change, while some of it will not. Overall I can not wait to play this game and see what they have done with it.

This is very soon.

The beta will start with just two maps. Dust & Dust2. Can't wait to see people getting to play the changes in Dust. #CSGO

Man, I used to play competitive CS 1.6, so I should be really excited for this. Of course, that was 12 years ago, so I bet I suck now.

For those who dont know or didnt see. This(the closed beta) is dropping on November 30th.

hmm doesn't look bad. i don't think i like the red damage indicator though that indicates which direction you're getting shot from, or the new crosshairs. but, I think crosshairs are just one of those things that grow on you. it's hard to tell if gameplay is really all that different when it's just bots available.

and the terrorists move like zombies, lol.

source kills ppl way too easy. cs does take longer. I not sure how this new game feels like because i dont have it.

looks exactly like cs source and i hated source. i do miss the 1.6 days. or any pre 1.6. but i dont have this beta, so anything i say doesnt matter lol.

First update.
Version is now:

Protocol version 10045
Exe version 1.0.0.45 (csgo)
Exe build: 13:29:48 Dec 2 2011 (4773) (730)

Updates to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

- Fixed movement exploit
- Made movement more responsive per pro feedback
- Fixed an out-of-sync issue that was causing some players to get shot by invisible players
- Added mp_restartgame for competitive matches

Here are some info on future features.

getting so tired of the random ppl adding me on steam to ask me where i got my key and if they can have one or ask people for one.

Wish they would give more details about the open beta.

To be honest its more like an Alpha right now. This is a true beta. This isnt like BF3 where they are doing a playtest of the finished game for a patch and call it a beta. The game has limited weapons, skins, maps, and game modes. This is so they can perfect the actual game and what is available right now then slowly add stuff once all bugs are found.

This will buff the final product as they are really taking this serious and listening to the community.

Ill let you play on my account to see what you think.

So far the most commonly asked questions are:
Is it better than source and/or 1.6? No, but this will change as this is beta.

Awesome. I'll see you on tonight.

Last night i finally got to play it for no more than 2 hours. Ill post up my initial thoughts on the game.
At first the game was very frustrating. I couldnt land a shot and the mouse was retarded so as i played for prolly 25 rounds i was adjusting the mouse sensitivity. Turned off accel and use raw input. then played with the sensitivity of the mouse to get it where i had it in Counter Strike Source. Ok now we are close. I changed the crosshair color and turned off dynamic crosshair as well.

Now that the mouse isnt going crazy i can tell what the game is doing. Im going to get my actual CSS Config tonight and port it over to CSGO to see if its any different or better than my current config in CSGO.
Ok now on with it.
The game feels different and similiar at the same time. It looks like its very appealing to new people and the graphics look very nice.
The guns are all newly done and this includes the recoil system. Once i got my mouse straightened out i found it was similiar to previous Counter Strike games but different as well. It wasnt hard for me to adjust though. The gun models look good with a few of them seeming off. The Desert Eagle being the primary one. The gun is large on the screen and it doesnt look like the gun is in line with the crosshairs or the bullet path. The bullet path is very nice. It gives that misconception that this game is just Left 4 Dead with skins. Its NOT. The bullet paths are very helpful. It helps your determind where shots are coming from and where your shots are landing. Does it make the game easier? No. This game is still primarily dependant on aim, sound, micro game, and meta game like the previous CS titles.
The models are supposed to be smaller then in CS:Source and i think this is true. Its not as easy to pop off headshots or light up your enemy.
Walbanging has been amplified in CSGO. The best way others have described it was in between CS 1.6 and Source. To be honest that may be true but the Wallbanging is super realistic. If you have a 8 inch concrete wall you wont get through that. The wooden boxes you will go through like butter with high calibers. Its very well done.

I will follow up more on the maps, and all other aspects of the game.

BTW CSS Maps work on this game really well.
