I am beginning to see a trend in today's hardware market.
IBM couldn't get the Apple chips correct, ATI is apparently having delays on the R520, and now Sony is having trouble getting developer kits ready for the PS3.
I'm sure there are more, but the trend seems to be that some companies, and I'm sure that it happens to all companies at one time or another, are maybe biting off more than they can chew. Is this due to aggressive competition? Companies like Sony trying to get their product out before MS or Nintendo; will they sacrifice quality for earlier release and an attempt at more of the market?
Is this where hardware is heading? We hear all of these announcements saying company X is coming out with this great new product in 3 weeks. Company Y then panics and puts out a product shortly after, then people end up waiting 3 months for the bugs to get fixed.
Is anybody else seeing this? Has it always been this way and I am just noticing now? Your thoughts?
