Best "cheap" brands: Westinghouse, Olieva LCDs, Vizio Plasmas
Best "name brand" brands: Sony LCDs, Sharp LCDs, Panasonic Plasmas, Pioneer Plasmas
With the "cheap" brands you get more inches per dollar. A 32" Westinghouse might cost $600 while a 32" Sharp may cost $1000.
It's recommended you go a store to view them in person. You might not even be able to tell the difference between a name brand or cheap brand TV.
