any software out there test my CD burner? I am looking to see whether or not it's actually running fine, I am sick of the random hit and random miss, it really pisses me off, and some cd's I burn I cannot read some files, not sure if it's the burner, the ISO, or whatever, any way to test it? :( :)

What brand disks are you using? Low quality disks can make or break a CD burner. Also, what speed are you buring at?

What kind of burner do you have?

Thanks for the reply man! I am using some cheap-o cd's, but it's only 1 spindle and it's due tot he fact that I had store credit there and nothing else interested me...something interested I discovered tonight...

I took out my writer cause it was giving me problems and I put in a 32X normal drive in there, and I read the same CD's fine with it....so it's leading em to teh concusion that something with that Cd writer is messed up...I am gonna see if LG will warranty it or what not, only worth 50$ but 50$ in my pocket is better then 50$ in someone else's...heh

also one question to those who may know...does reading a cD use a different lens then writing to a CD?

Looks like my warranty is up so now I need to know if it uses two lenses or one, because if it's two I can buy a DVD driver for reading CD's and leave this drive to write :)

I don't think so.

Could be wrong though.

I've taken apart CD burners before, and I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure it uses the same lens.
