Hey All

I have a post in the PSU area about my Enermax Fan running backards. I got that corrected but now my MB temps are high...104 no load. (Cpu at 95).

Some info on how I had the Fans setup before and now might help.
OLD way...
1) the PSU fan was blowing air into the case pulling air from outside. This was blowing air over my P-90
2) the Fan on my P-90 was pulling air over the fins.
3) a 80mm Side case fan was exhausting air out.

temps were 36 C at no load on both MB and CPU
temps were 42 C at load on both CPU and 40 C on MB

New way..
1) PSU fan pulls air out of Case.
2) Cpu Fan now blows air Down over P-90 (got that suggestion from reading post )
3) 80 mm Side Case fan now pulls air in.

temps are 40 C(104 F) at no load on MB and CPU 36 C(95 F)

Anyway room temps are around 75 F
1)What temps should I be get'n with my case covers on ??
2) how much higher should it be w/ cover on than w/ Case open.
3) I know air flow will help out alot but how much of a rise would tell me that I have good enough Air Flow in my Case ??

Sorry to babble but im a little stumped

Hmm... what kind of case do you have? Are those all the fans in your case? You should have an exhaust fan blowing out in the back of the case also. Airflow through the case is very important, if the only entrance point for air WAS the power supply fan (which is now an exhaust fan) and the only exit for air was the 80 mm hole in the side, this would explain why your temps were that way. Your system is choked, it needs more air.

There are lots of ways to move air through a case but the most common is to have air coming through the bottom front (sometimes aided by a intake fan in the front of the case), having air come in through the side panel over the processor (I assume thats your 80 mm fan), then air leaving the case through the PSU AND a fan in the back of the case below it. Some cases also have a blow-hole fan in the very top exhausting air out.

The direction of your airflow should be better now, it just sounds like you have to get more airflow going.
