I'm wanting to exchange my 9800Pro in my shuttle to my PNY 6800NU that is softmodded. How much higher are the temps on a 6800NU compared to a MSI 9800Pro with the green pcb and large heatsink/fan? My temps in the shuttle now are pretty hot and I plan to add another 512 stick along with my 6800NU so I am just wondering if it's a yay or nay on the switch. Thanks

well since u have a 9800 pro alrdy. my temps for my 6800 NU 16/6 unlocked are 58 degree's and 39 abient. during gaming its like 61 degree's and never goes above that. so i'd say u get a mid-high 50's usually.

Install it, leave the case open, position some house fans to blow in or at your case then turn on the computer and check the temps out.

Or if it is not wet outside and it is cold where you are you could turn it on outside.

So look at the temps and then go from there.

ram doesn't produce much heat unless if u oc like crazy. leave ur case open and im sure u'll be fine.

My 9800 pro is way hotter than my 6800. You'll be fine if its not majorly OCed and have terrible ambients or poor circulation.

Well I finally changed it out and my temps on the 6800 are only at 60C after playing HL2 so I'm happy. Thanks for the advice guys.

Yes on both rigs the softmod was successful. Now I want to overclock but am not sure if I should or not with it being in a shuttle and all.
