I've been doing some OCing lately and wanted to hear opinions on temperature.

Right now my Q9650 is sitting at 4 Ghz at 1.28 volts (It boots to windows at 1.22 but can only run Prime95 stable at 1.28), for some reason below 1.28 the third core always fails on Prime95, while the other three can run for hours (Any ideas on this?)

The chip has a 1.15 vid stock.

It idles at 40,35,35,40 C (Per core) and goes to 67,61,62,65 C at full load after an hour of SmallFFT run with prime 95.

Is it fairly safe at those temps or should I be looking at updating my cooling solution?

1.28 in Bios = 1.188 on full load that's a load of droop

Switched it to 470x8.5 (3995) and lowered voltage by one notch, now the temps went down by 1-2C on full load.

Those temps look great.....that chip is good to 100 before it starts to throttle.......so I would say anything under 80 is a win
 
Good to hear!

Switched LLC (Load line calibration) to ON, lowered vCore in Bios back to 1.225 and running Prime 95 right now.

Voltage is now pinned to 1.225 (no droop at all) , temps hovering just under 67C with LLC enabled. I think i'll keep it this way ! :)

4Ghz at 1.225, not too shabby :D This think overclocks crazy compared to my old core 2.
 
Why couldn't I ever get a low vid chip? :p

My e8400, q9650, i7 860, i5 760, even my i5 2500k have all had either a 1.225 or 1.25 vid.
