temp damage with mcres micro ?

if they ran their fans at 7v or 12v they would have no issue the difference between res is negligable and 50% of people dont have any... if this review was good then people w/o res would be running significantly higher temps than res setups and that is not the case...
 
The reviewers are dumbasses. They were using a radiator designed for high-flow (actually high pressure) fans. They weren't feeding the radiator appropriately for the heat load. The "analysis" they give is complete BS and showcases their stupidity:

The CPU that this system cools is a Intel P4 3,8 GHz. With idle temperatures we were up at 50C as the ambient temperature was up to 24C today. Under load we ran between 55-57C which is quite high, comparing this all to a bigger tank we had a 7 degrees higher in idle mode and 10 degrees higher in full load. As we see the small amount of water heats up a bit faster than with a bigger tank as we ran the fans on low speed to keep the system quiet.

With less water in the system, it is expected that the system will heat up faster. That is normal. However, if the stable load temps were 7 degrees higher with the micro-res. That means that the larger reservoir was acting as a radiator to dissipate the extra heat. Granted a reservoir does dissipate some heat (and theis is a good thing), but if the difference is that much, it's because they had the wrong radiator for the system. In their case, it was becasue they had a BIX running in a configuration that it's not really designed for.

The key is to design your loop with enough radiator for your heat load, and make sure you are using a fan configuration that is appropriate for your radiator and your noise requirements.

The reviewers at rbmods said they had their fans at 5V "to keep the system quiet". If you want to do that, you should pick a radiator that's designed for quieter fans, like a Thermochill PA.
 
That site is a huge joke.

More water takes a longer amount of time to heat up. They probably ran the benchmark for 30 seconds to record the temperature.

I hadn't thought of the possibility that they took their readings too early. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt in my post. That is definitely another possible explanation. Either way, the "test" in that review is complete crap.

yeah a lot of people use that res and really like it... doesnt really matter what else you pair it with...
 
I have the micro res and love it. I chose that over anything else and I could of gotten just about anything. It is small, EASY to mount and hassle free. I screwed mine on the side of the 3 1/2 bays and it fits between that and the case side.

I too have the res and have found it to be a great little res. It bleeds fast and is simple to mount and fill. I purchased the Performance_Pcs model with the G1/4" threading of the top plug.
