I'm still having some trouble understanding TDP's purpose in the scheme of things. I understand what it is, but still confused on some particulars, such as --
- Will a higher max TDP necessarily equate to higher performance? Or, once the card can run full load at 99% without downclocking, is any TDP higher than that a waste?
- Does TDP basically tell the card how many amps it can draw? I.e., Volts x Amps = Watts, so if volts is locked at 1.25v, then TDP says the card can draw: Max TDP / 1.25v = Total-amps draw. Is this correct?
- If you set a really high TDP like 500, and voltage is set at 1.25v, will the card draw more and more power until it hits this max TDP (500)? Or will the card stop drawing anymore power once it's working at full 99% load?
