Has anyone noticed tarnish developing on the IHS of their CPU? I just wonder because it is after all made of copper...

Ah, that's all I needed to know...I'm almost tempted to remove it, but in some instances it might not mount correctly without it...And lapping it will probably just end in alot of bent pins...

Lap it man, some people put it in a piece of foam so you aren't applying pressure with your hand onto the pins.

But then the problem with using the foam is producing even pressure of the CPU on the sandpaper. If it's surface is no longer flat, you'll probably be losing performance. But for me it really comes down to the amount of effort I wish to put forth in getting a good lap.
