I need the thread or somebody to explain it so I'll understand this...

I've a couple older PC's. a P2 and a P3 adn they need to chew on smaller proteins... These monsters lately are taking my lappy like a week or more to get it done... actually, its taken it a month to do 3 proteins I'm pretty lucky I guess.


How do I get the little ones ?

Don't know about switching..but I know some people delete WUs that they don't want. Just delete everything except your cfg and fah file, including your work dir. Keep going till you get an easy one. Since none are really easy anymore you won't be doing it that often

OR you can just set the slower clients to work on timeless units. Then it dosent really matter that it takes a week to do a protein.

The only reason to switch over to Timeless Tinkers is if your not finishing a WU before the deadline and hence folding for nothing.
http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html has all the deadline times.
From there you will see the deadline times for the big protiens run at about one month per 100 points.
At 2 Ghz it takes me 50 hours to crunch a 221 point Gromac.
So three WU a month on a slower box ( 500 Mhz ) is about right.

I've been checking Points per Hour per Ghz of most of the WU's.
Gromacs fall around 2 ish.
Tinkers fall around 3.5.
Thats on an AMD system.

Think of it this way.
Your points dont update often but when they do you get a big jump.
